REMINDER - If this is your first event in 2022, please complete the required annual registration and waiver forms (links below) online in advance. This will save time and paper at registration.


A pre-event Training/Learning session will be held Wednesday June 15th at Kentville Memorial Park 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

There will be 3 courses available for each sprint (winning times approximately 12- 15mins for each course):

Registration:

If you plan to do both races please register for both otherwise just register for the event you plan to attend

  • You must have a 2022 Orienteering Canada waiver and membership form on file to participate in this event. If you have already completed these forms in 2022, there is no need to do another one. These can be filled out online here REGISTRATION AND WAIVER . If you reside outside of NS, you need to be registered with a home club. (Waiver only for those registered with a club outside Canada).

Please follow all municipal, provincial and federal health guidelines while participating.

Please ensure you register on this website (or via email to ValleyOrienteering@outlook.com) by midnight Thursday, June 16th, 2022. On-site check-in will take place on site from 10:00 to 10:45 am. Please ensure you have completed membership/waiver in advance (see above).

Last minute registration: This can be done on site, but to know how many maps to print we like you to register early. Also, pre-registration allows the on-site details to move more quickly.

Starts:

Kentville Gorge 11:00 am; 1 hour maximum time

Memorial Park 1:00 pm; 1 hour maximum time

For on-site registration/check-in, please be at registration table by 10:45 at the latest (or 12:45pm if running afternoon event only).

Entry Fees: Includes both races (the Kentville Gorge and the Memorial Park) and SI (timing stick) rental

The following are the fees for this event(pre-registered), add $5 for day-of registrations:

Senior: (age 21 and above) $20 per person

Junior: (age 20 and under) $10 per person

Family or wayfaring group: $25

Organized Group (e.g. scouts, guides, cadets, etc.: $10 per person)

Maximum fee per family unit: $40

In person: A payment container will be available. Please bring correct change.

Parking:

Suggested parking for all participants will be at the parking lot on the North side of Hwy 1 (at the top of the hill facing the ball fields 125 Park St). You will then need to cross the street and walk up the hill (Gladys Porter Drive) to the entrance to The Gorge. There is another parking area adjacent to the Credit Union soccer dome, next to Kings Central Academy a bit further West. Please do NOT park at the very small parking lot at the Kentville Gorge.

NOTE: If this area is full you can go to Gary Pearl Dr. the entrance to KCA School and then park at the Soccer Dome which is on the East side of Gary Pearl Dr. You can cross hwy 1 and walk along the sidewalk to get the the road up to the Gorge. This road is called Gladys Porter Dr. as noted above.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We would be delighted to have some volunteer assistance in areas such as registration, starts, finish, and control pickup, which will allow the events to run as smoothly as possible. Most tasks are of relatively short duration, but will still allow you to participate in the event(s). Lunch provided for volunteers.
